IoctlSvc.exe

The IoctlSvc.exe process is an executable file of the IoctlSvc Application from Prolific Technology Inc, which is designed to detect external (USB) drives aotomatically and then start the tray utility.

Recommendation:

The IoctlSvc.exe process is not an essential file to the system performance. We recommend you do not terminate it if you use IoctlSvc Application.

Kitty		One person says it is better to disable it and another says it won't work if disabled. My computer is working very slow so could this really be the problem and what problem am I causing if I disable it. Oh by the way, where do I go to disable it.  More information 0 0 Report Abuse
Lunarcamel		Necessary to have running if you are using an external drive of any kind...tested it today...proper communication with drive is inter-mitten without it. external Hard Drives lose communication with the OS if this is disabled....that would be the random freezes Genius. Genius		Utterly useless and occasionally problematic background service installed when a user installs the CD that comes with some USB thumb drives (Memory sticks / Flash memory / USB memory / Pen Drive). From my tests, and from my experience, despite using very little memory this service performs no function other than seriously impact the performance of some PCs. On some PCs this service will often cause PC slowness or random freezes. My recommendation: Immediately disable this task by setting its Startup Mode to Disabled on the Services tab - your thumb drive (Memory stick / Flash memory / USB memory / Pen Drive) will work fine without it. 0 0 Report Abuse
