explorer.exe

The explorer.exe is an executable file of Windows Explorer for Microsoft Windows Operating system. The explorer.exe file is executed when the user double-clicks on the My Computer desktop icon or the one found in the Start menu. It is used to to navigate or browse files by providing users a graphical interface to see your hard drives, folders, and files. Now the explore.exe file also serves as a task-based file management system now.

Recommendation:

The explorer.exe  is an essential part of Windows and required for Windows to work properly. It should never be disabled.

k may		i am not very pc literate but i sure would like to be. do i have too many processes running as shown by this application? i do not know which ones should or should not be running or what they are but i sure hope to one of these days. my goal is a fast response system that doesnt keep me hanging wondering why it is taking so long! i think your utilities are the best and even better than any that have a high price tag. thank you. kmay@msn.com 0 0 Report Abuse

SFwriter		TO: the grumpygeezer: Next time press Ctrl-Alt-Del, and get the Task Manager up and running. then go to "File" and click the RUN command, then just type "Explorer" (no quotes) and it will re-start. 5 0 Report Abuse

the grumpygeezer		It may not be a security risk but for the unsuspecting or newbe it is very dangerous. When I shut it down with the Task Manager everything I tried to turn it back on failed. I have NO ICONS on my desktop so there was nothing to click on and I was unable to access the Task Manager. Through a back door I finally was able to access SYSTEM RESTORE and was able to restore everything back to normal. 0 3 Report Abuse

senor bolsa		just the desktop GUI (graphic user interface) i usally turn it off while gaming ect. can be restarde in task manger new task>explorer.exe as with any part of an operating system this can be exploited and should be watched for changes in behavior. 0 0 Report Abuse

Wyatt G		No worries if you shut this off accidentaly. Instead of restarting your PC to get your taskbar and icons back just simply activate Task Manager. From the file tab choose New Task (Run...)then type in \"explorer.exe\" (w/out the parentheses). Your desktop is now back and your ready to go agaim. 0 0 Report Abuse
