mxtask.exe

The mxtask.exe process is a part of the Part of Ontrack's Fix-it Utilities Suite. It is used to dispaly a System Tray icon  that lets you access the full program.

Recommendation:

The mxtask.exe process is not an essential file to the system performance. Disabling it or enabling it is down to user's choices.

-Mark		This process is part of the Security Suite included in Avanquest (formerly V-Com and formerly Ontrack) System Suite v9 and v7, (Their Fix-It Utilities Suite is quite similar, using this service for the same things), which runs in the background all the time. It IS rather resource intensive, significantly more so than older versions of the same product, and handles their NetDefense Firewall and active Malware protection processes. Disabling it isn't really an option if one wants any of their security suite to keep running, to maintain some level of protection. One can shut off so-called "Active Protection" and this will still be running for the Firewall etc. But some of that is to be expected. It has a partner service called MXTask2. Robert Wydell		It has the same spanner symbols as Fix It Utilities 7 Express which is a good Clean/Repair/Optimise whatnot. Three times in a month this Background service has told me it is in trouble and will have to close Bob 0 0 Report Abuse
