Don\'t mess with it, it\'s essential. Like anything else, verify its name and location.

If it\'s running under Windows Vista, this is a system critical process, as long as it exists in %windir%\\system32. Its job is to start some of the core Windows Vista background services.

This file is required to start Windows. You need it or you will not have Windows work at all.

Don\'t know whether to like or dislike the fact that it shows up in my list of processes (only when I click show for all users though), and I\'ve been reading that it shouldn\'t show in the Task Manager on Windows XP or Vista. Never specifies if thats for the normal view, or the view for all users. Dying to know the answer to this though. I should also mention that the file is located in my Windows/System32 folder, but I have heard that doesn\'t matter in some cases.
