wininit.exe

The wininit.exe process is a system critical process under Windows Vista. It is the Windows Vista Startup Application, which is responsible for starting the core Windows Vista background servides (for the benefit of advanced users WININIT starts the Service Control Manager, SCM, the Local Security Authority SubSystem, LSASS, and the Local Session Manager, LSM.EXE, which manages terminal services connections).

Recommendation:

The wininit.exe process is n essential Windows Vista background program. It should not be disabled.

Al		If it\'s running under Windows Vista, this is a system critical process, as long as it exists in %windir%\\system32. Its job is to start some of the core Windows Vista background services. 0 0 Report Abuse

ColKorn1982		Don\'t know whether to like or dislike the fact that it shows up in my list of processes (only when I click show for all users though), and I\'ve been reading that it shouldn\'t show in the Task Manager on Windows XP or Vista. Never specifies if thats for the normal view, or the view for all users. Dying to know the answer to this though. I should also mention that the file is located in my Windows/System32 folder, but I have heard that doesn\'t matter in some cases.  More information 0 0 Report Abuse
John Martin		is a good file in the directory and you need it ! if you have scanned your computer with a well know av product and it say it infected then you might have a issues but if trend did not see an issue leave the file alone 0 0 Report Abuse
